Our yearly gathering has been expanded to two days of educational workshops, speakers and farm tours.
Farmer? Want to be? Interested in Organics and Sustainability for life or livelihood? Tennessee Organic Growers Association (TOGA) is the conference for you! Join us for our yearly gathering of farm tours, educational sessions, vendors and local food!
The conference begins on Friday with a tour of Foggy Hollow Farm, 20 minutes outside of Nashville. The tour offers fellow farmers and growing enthusiasts a personal look inside farm operations and an opportunity to talk directly to the farmers about their successes, hurdles and opportunities. It will also include a tour of their sustainably built, only Middle Tennessee LEED certified home built on an organic farm. We will meet at the Nashville Farmer's Market at 9:30AM, bus leaves at 10:00AM, returning by 3:00PM. Bus transportation and lunch provided by Grow Local Kitchen. Visit the Farm Tour page for more info.
Friday evening there will be a special screening of the movie "What's 'Organic' About Organic?" The movie was produced and directed by Shelly Rogers and will be shown at the Nashville Farmer's Market at 6:30 p.m. The cost of the movie is $10.00 and a panel discussion will follow the movie. Wine will be available for purchase before the movie.
A full day of workshops starts on Saturday. Workshop sessions are where professional farmers, hobby farmers, backyard gardeners and local food enthusiasts alike will find sessions that fit their skill level and areas of interest. Topics range from urban farming, mushroom production, organic fruit production, beekeeping, urban chickens, local food systems and more. Our Keynote Speaker this year is renowned urban farmer and author Michael Ableman. Sign up for our e-letter to get the latest news and information on speakers, session topics, & more.
